UNIDO Chief Has A ‘Dream’, Urgently Needs Funds

VIENNA (IDN) – Li Yong has a ‘dream’, the dream to give young people, living in similarly poor conditions as he experienced in China in his childhood, an opportunity to play a part in “the global fight against poverty”.

Li was re-appointed head of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on November 27 for four years by the Organization’s supreme policy-making organ, the General Conference (GC) where member states meet once every two years.

He was first elected in June 2013 as the UNIDO’s Director General, becoming as Xinhua noted, “the first United Nations (UN) agency chief from the Chinese mainland”.

ポリネシア航海協会のナイノア・トムソン氏は、伝統的知識・科学・気候変動に関するグローバルな観点についての北極圏のセミナーで「島の人々は、気候変動とは何の関係もないのに、最大の被害者になっている。」と語った。トムソン氏はハワイ出身だが、彼とともに発言者として登壇したのは、タイ、チャド、フィジー、ケニア、そして、ノルウェーのラップランド出身の人々であった。

The Global Fund To Fight AIDS Asked to Change Criteria Discriminating Poor Countries

TORONTO (IDN) – As this year’s World AIDS Day campaignMy Health, My Right – kicks into high gear, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has called on The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria to end the use of Gross National Income (GNI) per capita as part of the Fund’s grant eligibility criteria, and thus stop discriminating poor countries.

The Los Angeles based AHF is the largest nonprofit HIV organization that provides HIV care to more than 833,000 patients in 39 countries globally, including in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America & the Caribbean and the United States. バチカン会議、「持続可能な開発」と「核兵器禁止」のネクサス(関連性)を強調

2015年以後の開発問題をめぐる成果文書として、「我々の世界を変革する:持続可能な開発のための2030アジェンダ」が2年前の「国連持続可能な開発サミット」において採択された際、世界の首脳らはこれを「より大きな自由における普遍的な平和の強化を追求する人間、地球及び繁栄のための行動計画」だと規定した。

17分野・169項目からなる持続可能な開発目標(SDGs)を掲げたこの文書は、公開作業部会における長い議論から生まれてきたコンセンサスを基礎としている。しかしそれは、「核兵器のない世界」といったような言葉を巧妙に避けている。

Il nesso tra sviluppo sostenibile e messa al bando delle armi nucleari al centro di una recente conferenza, tenutasi in Vaticano

CITTÀ DEL VATICANO (IDN) – Quando i leader di tutto il mondo hanno approvato il documento “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” (“Trasformare il nostro mondo. L’Agenda 2030 per lo sviluppo sostenibile”), a valle del vertice delle Nazioni Unite di due anni fa, che ha portato all’adozione degli impegni post-2015, lo hanno descritto come “un piano di azione per le persone, il pianeta e la prosperità” che “cerca anche di rafforzare la pace universale, nel contesto di un’accresciuta libertà”.

Il documento, che comprende 17 obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile (OSS o “Sustainable Development Goals“, SDG) e 169 propositi, è nato grazie al consenso, che si è formato attorno a queste tematiche durante le ampie discussioni sorte all’interno del gruppo di lavoro aperto (“Open Working Group”). Per questo, gli estensori hanno evitato meticolosamente di usare parole come “un mondo libero dalle armi nucleari”.

La conférence du Vatican souligne le lien intrinsèque entre le développement durable et l’abolition des armes nucléaires.

Cité du Vatican (IDN). Lorsque les dirigeants du monde ont approuvé « La transformation de notre monde : l’Agenda de 2030 pour un développement durable » comme document émanant du sommet des Nations Unies pour le développement post-2015 il y a deux ans, ils l’ont désigné comme « plan d’action pour les peuples, la planète et la prospérité », et qui « vise également à consolider la paix mondiale dans le contexte d’une plus grande liberté ».

Le document qui comprend 17 Objectifs de Développement Durable (ODD) et 169 cibles, est basé sur un consensus auquel on a abouti suite à de longues discussions au sein du Groupe de Travail Ouvert. Il prend bien soin d’éviter des termes tels que « un monde sans armes nucléaires ».
