Tayland: ‘Umut Tohumları’ Toplumun Gıda Güvenliğini Sağlamayı Amaçlıyor

KAEN MAKROOD, Tayland (IDN) – Tohumlar olmadan, küresel nüfusu barındıracak gıda güvenliğini sürdürme umudunun olmadığı inancıyla, Tayland’daki ‘Umut Tohumları’ (SOH) projesi, toplumu tarım yöntemlerinde kendi kendilerine güvenmeleri ve kendilerini yağmacı tarım şirketlerinden korumaları için harekete geçirmeyi amaçlıyor.

Tayland’ın kuzeyindeki Uthai Thani eyaletinde yer alan Kaen Makrood’daki topluluk, halkının çoğunun Karen Pwo etnik grubundan olduğu ve kültür ve geleneklerinin tohumlarla ayrılmaz bir şekilde bağlı olduğu bir köydür.

African Leaders Unite in Pledge to End AIDS In Children

GENEVA (IDN) — Every five minutes, a child dies from AIDS-related causes. While three-quarters of adults (76 per cent) are on life-saving treatment, only half (52 per cent) of children living with HIV are receiving antiretrovirals.

Despite the fact that only 4 per cent of the total number of people living with HIV are children, children account for 15% of all AIDS-related deaths, according to the 2021 figures available to the World Health Organization (WHO).
