HARARE (INPS) — Kuna zaidi ya visa 228 000 vya virusi vya korona nchini Zimbabwe, na vifo zaidi ya 5000 wakati kaskazini mwa nchi hii inasimama Zambia iliyobeba visa vya virusi vya korona zaidi ya 300 000 na vifo vinavyohusiana na COVID zaidi ya 3000 na bila kuacha nje, ni Msumbiji mashariki mwa Zimbabwe, inayoshindana na visa zaidi ya 200 000 vya virusi vya korona, hii na vifo vya zaidi ya 2000 vinavyohusiana na janga la hofu.

UN Warns of Food Insecurity in 20 Countries and Regions

ROME (IDN) — A new report by two UN agencies has identified “hunger hotspots” across 20 countries and regions where parts of the population are expected to face a significant deterioration of acute food insecurity in the coming months that will put their lives and livelihoods at risk. This warning of spiralling uncertainty relates to areas where conflict, economic shocks, natural hazards, political instability, and limited humanitarian access, are hard-hitting.

Coronavirus Cases Are Shooting Up Across Africa

HARARE (INPS) — There are over 228 000 coronavirus cases in Zimbabwe, with more than 5000 deaths while north of this country stands Zambia laden with over 300 000 coronavirus cases and more than 3000 COVID-related deaths and not to be left out, is Mozambique east of Zimbabwe, contending with more than 200 000 coronavirus cases, this with over 2000 deaths related to the feared pandemic. Health System in Afghanistan Is on The Brink of Collapse

GENEVA (IDN) — The World Health Organization (WHO) a specialized agency of the United Nations, has warned that fundamental and life-saving primary health care services in Afghanistan are under severe threat. It is, therefore, making an urgent appeal to international donors to rapidly finance the Sehatmandi programme, as they have done for almost two decades.

The programme is the backbone of Afghanistan’s health system, providing care for millions of people through 2 331 health facilities.

中国とラオスを結ぶ新路線が貿易と観光に東南アジアの門戸を開く

中国とラオス間を結ぶ全長414キロの新高速鉄道線が「陸の孤島」であったラオスを東南アジア地域に連結し、貿易と観光を促進することを可能にした。新線は中国からシンガポールへの鉄道の旅と陸上輸送を促進し、その結果、南シナ海経由の地域貿易の重要性は低下することになるかもしれない。

59億ドルをかけて建設された鉄道は、中国の習近平国家主席の「一帯一路」構想の支柱の一つであるが、同時にラオスにとっても、同国を内陸国(Land-Locked)から東南アジア大陸部の連結国(Land-Linked)経済に転換し、内陸・山岳国家ゆえの遅れを克服しようとする同国の戦略ビジョンの一環でもある。

Global Pandemic Halts Economic Recovery, Says UN Report

NEW YORK (IDN) — A new United Nations report shows that the rapid spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant has halted a rapid recovery, countering signs of solid growth at the end of 2021. The report titled, 2022 World Economic Situation and Prospects (WESP) by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) cites problems contributing to the slowing down of the economy: new waves of COVID-19 infections, persistent labour market and lingering supply-chain challenges, as well as rising inflationary pressures.
